About Me
I am a complex and introspective person who has spent life fascinated by what makes people do what they do, or prevents them from being all they want to be.
It's satisfying to help clients unpeel the layers that make up human behavior to discover what lies beneath the obstacles that make life unworkable. Once we’re able to find what core beliefs or experiences lie in the way, we use a myriad of tools, to promote healing and change…we literally transform challenges into strengths.
Sounds like an easy enough task, and yet…it really isn't. I'm familiar with the complexities that make up a person's personality and behaviors, particularly when they cause a life may have been full of pain and chronic misfires (not a professional industry term). These misfires can lead to failures in finding and sustaining satisfying relationships, career stagnation, addiction, legal or financial trouble. Some may find, they struggling with all of these things.
I come to this work out of necessity. I left a lucrative career in finance. I had landed my "dream job," at my "dream firm," when I hit a burnout wall I could neither pummel my way through, nor bargain my way out of, and my body literally shut down. I was faced with the reality that I had to step away from my work obsessed life and do the internal work necessary to overcome the traumas and chaos that had made my life impossible to bear alone.
I have Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and the related buffet of symptoms that go along with it. Depression, anxiety, insomnia, and a shopping cart of symptoms that led previous practitioners to misdiagnose me with varying disorders, over a lifetime. Because my diagnosis was a moving target, my treatment was unproductive and at times destructive. I've navigated the insufferable and woefully troublesome mental health system seeking help.
Over time I have found relief, with the help of family, persistence and a lot of self-advocacy. I explored modalities across the spectrum with varying degrees of success. I have experience with traditional modalities such as CBT therapy, medication, inpatient and outpatient intensive treatment, somatic experiencing, religious deconstruction, Internal Family Systems, art therapy and trauma therapy, as well as EMDR, ART, and Brain-spotting modalities. Additionally, I have found relief using non-traditional treatments including the use of life coaching to work through belief systems and overcoming blocks. It's been quite an adventure.
My takeaway from my personal experiences is that finding proper treatment, and the right providers is very difficult. I learned I have a unique set of skills and knowledge, coupled with compassion and an intuitive approach, natural curiosity and a desire to help clients. Thus, a career change was born. You’ll get to benefit from the experiences I’ve had with troubleshooting my own treatment.
My mission with each client is the same: to support you in creating YOUR path to recovery. This will look different for you than it did for me. And that’s good. Because this journey is all about you finally being free to uncover your authentic self and create a life you love.
